Barnes murder charge: Boy, 17, accused after body found

A teenager has been charged with murder after a dismembered body was found at a home in south-west London.

Police discovered the body of what they believe to be a 53-year-old man, during a welfare check at an address in Nowell Road, Barnes, on 3 January.

The victim, named in court documents as William Algar, was “found dismembered”. A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.

A 17-year-old boy, from Earls Court, was charged with murder on Monday.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm his name and address at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
